Helpful advice

Carnival is the choice of most first time cruisers and sadly I have seen them turn off a lot of people to cruising. I am not saying don't give them a try but make sure to pick one of their newer ships, preferably out of Miami or FT. Lauderdale and DO NOT go on or near a school holiday. Although that rule goes for most cruise lines. I agree that Royal Caribbean is your best bet. I am in my mid 30's and have been on over 40 cruises with all of the big lines. ( I used to write cruise reviews and a cruise travel column). RCCL is not the most luxurious or glamorous but they are definitely the best value for your money and offer the most for your age demographic

My son will only be 17 months when we cruise. He supposedly cannot swim in the pool and he cannot participate in the Camp Carnival - so what does he do? How strict are they on these rules? Will we be able to take excursions? Do the tour buses have car seats?

    • The Victory is no different than any of the other cruise ships. There will be nothing for a child that age to do. Most of the kids camps require the kids to be potty trained. And from what I ve read, they are pretty strict about the age limits and the no-diapers thing. You can pay to get a baby-sitter in your cabin in the evening. Excursion buses will not have child seats. You would be limited in which excursions you can do by what your child can do. For example, you won t be able to climb Dunns River Falls in Ocho Rios, unless you take turns staying with the baby at the bottom of the falls …
